I'm Josh — a Melbourne-based singer, guitarist and DJ, husband, dad, and the founder of Sperring Entertainment.
I've been making music for over 20 years, and I still get excited every time I get to be part of someone's wedding day. Over the years I've had the privilege of performing at more than 600 weddings and events, but one thing has always stayed the same...
It's never just about the music.
It's about creating an atmosphere where people feel relaxed, connected and completely themselves. Whether that's an emotional walk down the aisle, sunset drinks with live acoustic music, or a dance floor packed with every generation singing together, those are the moments I love being part of.

MY STORY
From cultivating plants to cultivating celebrations
Before music became my full-time career, I spent 13 years as a production horticulturalist, helping grow everything from roses and shrubs to advanced trees.
But music was never just a hobby. While working full-time, I was always performing in some capacity—playing at cafés, weddings and private events on weekends, writing and recording original music, and taking on audio engineering projects whenever I could. Looking back, I was building my music career long before it became my full-time job.
In 2021, I finally took the leap and turned that lifelong passion into a career—and I haven't looked back.
My musical journey actually started much earlier as a teenager, writing songs, playing in bands and eventually winning The Light FM Musical Challenge, the first time the competition was ever held. That led to performing in front of thousands of people at Federation Square and having my original songs played regularly on the radio.
As exciting as those moments were, I realised what I loved most wasn't being on stage—it was using music to help create unforgettable moments for other people.
That's why weddings feel like the perfect fit.
Every couple is different, and I genuinely love creating a soundtrack that feels personal to them—from the ceremony right through to the last song of the night.
I'm also a qualified audio engineer and, if I'm honest, a bit of a gear nerd. I've always been fascinated by what makes music sound incredible—not just the performance itself, but everything behind it. From premium speakers and wireless microphones to lighting, acoustics and the smallest technical details, I genuinely love this stuff. It's why I invest in top-quality equipment and always carry professional backups. Great music deserves to sound every bit as good as it feels.

I don't believe in cookie-cutter playlists. I play what works for you and your guests - from R&B, pop and house to rock, country, 70's & 80's classics, party anthems & more!
I love incorporating cultural traditions that mean the most to you - whether it's an Italian Tarantella, Zorba the Greek, Bollywood, Bhangra, Sri Lankan baila or family favourites.
I focus on the energy in the room and adjust on the fly to keep the vibe flowing with smooth transitions and no awkward gaps. Happy to take requests too!

LIFE OUTSIDE THE MUSIC
Family, footy,
food and travel.
When I'm not performing, you'll usually find me trying to sneak off to watch the footy, planning our next holiday, or discovering a great new restaurant.
I'm a big foodie and love cooking—especially seafood and a good wagyu steak—with a nice glass of red wine or whisky when I get the chance (although with two little kids, those chances are a bit less frequent these days!).
Music is still a huge part of my life away from weddings too. I'm constantly discovering new artists and playlists, and my taste jumps between classics, house, country, folk, R&B, rock, pop, party anthems and just about everything in between. I genuinely believe there's great music in every genre.
I'm married to my incredible wife, Rowie. She's also a singer, and we've even performed together at weddings. We got married in 2021 after four COVID postponements and a last-minute venue change, so I know first-hand how stressful wedding planning can be.
These days, life is a wonderful blur of weddings, music and family adventures with our daughter, our little boy, and our very spoiled cavoodle, Murphy.
